Thoughtful Planning. Clear Communication. Craftsmanship Built to Last.
At S&S Renovations, our process is designed to help homeowners make informed decisions about their home projects.
Whether it’s remodeling an existing space, planning an addition, restoring original character, or reviewing concerns around the home, we take time to understand the material and structure, to better reach your goals.
Our approach is founded on clear scopes to achieve your vision with craftsmanship focused on long-term performance.
1. Listen & Assess Your Goal
Before we recommend a direction, we start by understanding why you reached out.
That may be a space that no longer functions for the flow of your home, visible wear or deterioration, moisture concerns, older materials, or a larger renovation goal.
We talk through:
- What you want to change
- What concerns you have noticed
- How the space is currently being used
- Your timeline and priorities
- Your investment expectations
This step helps us understand not just what needs to be done, but why it matters to you.

2. Assess the Home and Existing Conditions
Homes are not in the Chattanooga area where one size fits all. In the Chattanooga Area older construction, seasonal moisture, humidity, and previous repairs can all affect how a project should be approached.
During an on-site review, we look at the existing conditions that may influence the project. Depending on the scope, this may include:
- Layout and room flow
- Framing or structural considerations
- Subfloor or flooring conditions
- Moisture-prone areas
- Trim, finishes, and material transitions
- Previous repairs or remodel work
- How new work may connect to the existing home
The goal is to understand the home clearly as we work through the next steps.

3. Develop the Right Solution
Seldom do any two projects need the same solution.
Sometimes the right path is a focused repair. Sometimes it is a room remodel, a phased renovation, or an addition that expands the home.
Once we understand the goals and existing conditions, we help clarify what approach makes the most sense for your project.
That may include:
- Repairing or stabilizing an issue before finish work begins
- Preserving original materials where possible
- Replacing what no longer performs well
- Phasing work based on priorities or budget
- Coordinating remodel, repair, and finish details
Our goal is to help you make informed decisions without pressure or guesswork.

4. Define the Scope, Pricing, and Timeline
Before a project moves forward, we define what is included, what is not included, and what decisions still need to be made.
Depending on the project, this may include:
- A written scope of work
- Material selections or allowances
- Pricing structure
- Payment schedule
- Timeline expectations
- Site conditions and homeowner responsibilities
- Notes about items that may require further review
This gives everyone a clear starting point and helps keep the project organized from beginning to end.
5. Execute the Work with Care
Execution reflects preparation.
During the work, we focus on thoughtful sequencing, clean jobsite practices, communication, and craftsmanship that supports both appearance and long-term use.
Our work is guided by:
- Respect for your home and property
- Attention to structural integrity where applicable
- Clean and organized work standards
- Thoughtful material transitions
- Finish details that feel intentional
- Practical communication throughout the project
S&S Renovations is licensed and insured in the State of Tennessee, and we provide a one-year workmanship warranty.
Why Our Process Matters
Renovation issues often happen when work moves forward without enough clarity or understanding of the existing home.
A thoughtful process helps protect the integrity of the home, support better sequencing, and create a finished result that feels cohesive.
We do not just renovate for appearance. We renovate for function, performance, longevity, and legacy.
